Joel Hartjes, DDS
Dentistry has been a great profession for me. I look forward to going to work every day and working with and seeing friends of mine. I truly appreciate how lucky I am to have such great people to work with and that my patients trust me with their dental health. I get so much satisfaction out of helping people when they are having discomfort or when they want help looking their best with aesthetic treatments.
I believe every patient should be treated with the most up-to-date, well-researched techniques and materials in an atmosphere that makes them feel comfortable and safe. For over 25 years, this has been my mission, and I will continue to practice with this in mind.
Education and Continuing Education
- Undergraduate Degree – University of Wisconsin-Madison
- Doctorate of Dental Surgery – University of Minnesota School of Dentistry
I believe continuing education is vital in a dental practitioner’s life. Materials and techniques are always improving, and continuing education allows me to stay current and treat patients with the best techniques and materials. I obtain my continuing education through various sources. I attend the American Dental Association Annual Session and the Chicago Dental Society Midwinter meeting yearly where they have some of the best educators in the world. The Dane County Dental Society and Seattle Study Club of Madison also offer some fantastic continuing education opportunities.

Outside the Office
Originally from Little Chute, WI, I have lived in Middleton for over 20 years. I am happily married to my wife of more than 25 years, Lindsay. We have two children, Tyler and Ellie. When I’m not at work, I can be found with my feet on grass or in the water. I enjoy golfing, hunting, and spending time with a line in the water trying to catch a fish. Our family has a cabin in north-central Wisconsin where we also enjoy spending our time.
As an active member of the Middleton community, I am involved in the Mission of Mercy and the Touched Twice program, both of which donate dental work to those who cannot afford it and have no other means by which to obtain treatment. Each February, I also participate in the Give Kids a Smile event which donates care specifically to children in need.
